My mother (69) usually forwards me emails that are full of happy stuff and/or religious. Lately she sent one that had a joke about farting in it. My older brother was quite put off about it though and my usually prudish mother told him to lighten up.

I am far from an expert on this topic, but I think the answer to your question is "Yes". My mother had Alzheimer's, and for sure her sense of humor changed. Things she would never have found funny in her previous life became funny to her, and she laughed at and said things she would never have laughed at or said before. It may have to do with the loss of inhibition that comes with senility and forms of dementia. However, maybe she is just becoming a little more relaxed with life as she ages. But if you think she may be developing some form of dementia get her to a doc who specializes in such conditions - there is quite a bit of help for such conditions now - new therapies are being developed constantly. Best wishes to you and your family.

It could be that at 69 years old, she figured out that it doesn't pay to be uptight. Maybe SHE'S lightening up, and letting herself live a little. It could be...she's learned not to sweat the small stuff.

Hahaha! She's great! As you become older, you begin to lighten up.

Well, perhaps the "restraints" are loosened and thus comes a bit more humor
