No, he is NOT a Hall of Famer
The way he has forced trades via poor play and bad attitude I believe has killed that thought.
I also must disagree... I do not think 500 home runs is an automatic invite anymore, especially amongst players of this "enhanced" era.
After all, Rafael Palmeiro has 569 HRs and over 3,000 hits, Sosa has 588 HRs, and Big Mac has 583.
Which one of them do you see getting in at any time soon?
OH, and IF he squeeks in... it will NOT be as a Yankee, (his stats there were mediocre at best.) he'll go in as a Brave.

he's about 2 seasons away from 500 homers and 6 seasons from 3000 hits if he can average 150 per year. the hits may be a stretch but 500 homers and say 2750 hits with a near 300 avg is pretty good. he'll be a second or 3rd ballot guy and he'll be wearing a florida marlins hat. mark my words on that. when with the marlins he was a winner and the only time in his career he was happy. until now that is.

Sheffield left the Yankees in a commerce with the Detroit Tigers. He become unhappy with being a DH, and had to play the sector (you realize, like a genuine baseball participant). He have been given his desire while the Tigers released him before everything of the 2009 season, and he become signed with the help of the Mets presently thereafter. He become granted unfastened corporation on the top of the 2009 season, and no person become interested in keeping his centers. He did not announce his retirement until these days (February 2011), yet on condition that he's performed through fact the 2010 season, he could be eligible for the corridor of repute in 2015. there is not any doubt that he merits to be voted in, he become between the greater suitable ability hitters for a whole decade, and has the "magic" form of 500 HRs (as nicely to a pair different very remarkable stats). even with the undeniable fact that, the vote casting for induction is finished with the help of a set of capricious hypocrytes... so as that they might bypass over Sheffield the two through fact he admitted to utilising PEDs, or through fact he become not cherished. plenty for honesty paying for forgiveness. i might vote him in in the event that they gave me a vote.

Hall of Very Good, maybe. His attitude ruins his chance for the Hall of Fame

Yeah...as much as I hate to say it...he probably is a future HOFer.
Damn shame though IMO. Pete Rose is banned from the HOF for betting on baseball...but Sheff will go in even though he openly admitted to purposely making errors to force the Brewers to trade him years ago. That constitues "throwing games" in my eyes.
