I agree with above answers but it could be the oil return holes plugged in the head and the oil is staying in the head thus seeping into combustion chamber.

Assuming the engine hasnt been touched since `93; I`d bet the valve stem seals are hard as plastic and cracked. You can do a cheap quick fix by replacing the seals without even removing the cyl. head. I don`t know the mileage, but the valve guides are probably worn out, so new seals wont` last long.An exchange cyl. head is the way to go. And heres another `but`; With a new head; an increase in compression follows, which could cause the bottom end (con. rods, crank) to fail. So you`ll have to be the judge of how strong the eng. is. Does the vehicles` cond. justify the expense??? Good luck.

sounds like one of two things:
1. bad valve seats/seals--will cause oil to leak down internally after you shut the vehicle off, hence the blue smoke when you start it up.
2. bad piston rings--will cause oil to leak when the vehicle is running and will cause the smoke you talk about.
or may be a combination of both. best suggestion (unless you have about $2000-3000 to fix the engine) pour some non-detergent oil in it (the type that typically goes into mowers and such) that will gum up the rings and the seals and possibly stop the blue smoke eventually. You may still use some oil, but not as much as you are now. Just an idea....

Probably worn piston rings and/or worn valve guides/seals. You need to have the motor rebuilt but as a temporary "Fix" you could try putting "Lucas Oil Treatment" in the engine oil.

It means you're leaking oil somewhere, most likely at the valve seals. These are easily replaced.
