Will my computer be affected if I delete this program?

Question

I got this black screen that automatically runs when I boot my computer up at my Windows screen. If I delete this program will nethin happen to my computer (ex. computer crashes). Thanks.

don't delete it? but its not supposed to pop up and would the error be Windows No Disk error if I delete that? b/c I'm already gettin that and I didn't delete it.

Great question by the way and it's always good to ask first before just jumping in there and taking chances on something that may ruin your windows operating system. Just so you'll know, this would have been your case if you hadnt asked. The cmd.exe file is one of your computers main system files that make it work. You CAN NOT remove this file from your system. The \sun\appServer\domains file is your main Java file that allows you to play online games along with thousands of other applications and without problems. As an example, I shoot a lot of Yahoo Pool. When I shoot the ball, I expect to see it roll smoothly across the table (easy transition) and not be jerky and ruining the game for me. This cannot be done without help from your Java and DirectX program. Java is owned by the Sun Corp and of course DirectX is one of the most important system files that's supplied by Microsoft Corp. you shouldn't delete the file, it's a part of windows xp - it's the command prompt to be precise.

if you mean should you remove from the startup then that is fine.

if you simply deleted the actual file you would instead get an error message when your computer boots because it will be trying to load a file that doesn't exist.

try this to check the startup of your pc:
• click 'start'
• click 'run'
• type: msconfig
• click 'ok'
• in the window that appears, click the 'startup' tab•
• if there is anything ticked in that window that refers to cmd.exe, untick it
• click 'ok'
• restart your pc when prompted

we're all telling you not to delete the file cmd.exe for a reason, deleting files willy-nilly out of your system32 folder will leave you with a system that won't even boot AT ALL.

if cmd.exe is running when you boot your pc it's because it's been told to, deleting the file will not stop your pc from trying to load the file on startup - you will get an error message or a crippled system instead.

Windows will try very hard to prevent you from deleting this.

If you succeed through some improbable act of foolishness, it will kill your computer. This is a very important part of your operating system. Don't mess around with it!

dont delete the file but get a good antivirus and antispyware update them and run them in safe mode

i wouldn't delete it as it is needed. you may have another problem somewhere else that needs to be found and/or fixed.
perhaps a filecheck will work best to see?

yup. its a system file. it cannot be deleted. your system may have been infected by a virus. its better to have a clean install. partition your drive to make sure.
