My husband played football for the University of Denver 1957 game against Air Force Academy. I would like to get the newspaper and also the film of that game.

Public records or Library?

The library is probably your best bet, but if you really want to go the whole nine yards (pardon the pun. lol), then try calling the newspaper and asking if you can get a look at their archives. My town's newspaper actually took the time to post all their archives on the website dating back to the 60's. I'm certain that if you probed them, they'd be able to come up with a copy of it for you. As for the film, that might take a little more detective work. Possibly looking up old classmates or calling up the sports department at the University of Denver to see if anyone else might have a copy of it. The easiest way to do that would be to go on classmates.com and get a membership (they have a special running right now for something like $10 for a month) and make a post to your husband's school message board asking if anyone has a copy of the film.

Good luck!!

For the newspaper, contact the newspaper directly. Oftentimes they have an archive department and may be willing to send a print.
Game film is probably more difficult, since cameras in those days were litterally "film" and not video tape. As a result, many live events were not taped, they were just broadcast and lost. There may be some highlight or training film. I'd contact the Sports Information Director at Denver and see if he could give any leads.

Go to the Public Libarary and ask if they can get a "micro-fiche" of the 1957 Denver newspaper for you.
