To make a long story short i have done everything to keep my neighbor from naggin such as keeping my yard clean my grass green my animals inside and yet he still finds something to say about us he has even called the cops or some humane socciety on us saying our gutters are dirty and our yard looks like crap. Taking him to court is the furtherst thing on my mind its to much of a hassle to deal with. I have tried to talk to him but he still claims that we are on welfare and he is going to do anything possible to get us evicted from our house that we have lived in for 6 years and he cant cause we own it and it cant be racist cause he is the same background as us but why do old people always seem to make the younger ones life a miserable hell ? we now ignore him but why does he still point and stuff there cant be to much wrong with us my husband works for a great company my brother is in school and i am a homemaker and yet nothing i do is perfect. why us ?

Because you are young and they are old. They wish they were back young again and could do the things that you and your husband can do now.

I live on my parents property, not with them, but on their property. I am 50 and they are 83 and 72. I love them both but oh boy talk about not being able to do anything right....you name it they grip..really it is mom doing the gripping and not so much dad. They really don't know that they are that way.

I would like to make a suggestion to you. Why not sometime in the near future, have them over for supper with you and your family, that way they could see the real you. Have you ever thought about the fact that they just might be lonely and are doing this just to have some one to talk to. Invite them over one time and see if there is a change in them. And remember Thanksgiving is coming up soon, what better time to break the ice with them.

Just keep one thing in mind...these older people ARE someones parents, treat them the way you want someone else to treat your parents!!

Dont throw ALL older people into the same category. This man probably has nothing more to do with his time than to find fault in his neighbors. Dont worry about him. As long as you know you are taking care of your business, just let him complain. Maybe he feels better to get some frustrations off his chest......lol.

Talk about grumpy old men - geesh- i have one of them a couple of doors down from me... He's just as bad & i have KIDS- so you can imagine what it can be like- i know its hard, but we just completely ignore him... I tell the kids to avoid him...sorry that's about all you can do- i one time gave him a real stupid face & told him to mind his own- or you can try the talk to the hand' routine that's all we can do.. I have even- if he dares come over to complain. I just usually do that & close the door on his face.. If communication doesn't work- then leave it be...
