They are celebrating overseas.

Yes, the agenda of the Congress will be re-prioritized. Some of the issues that will be placed at the top of the list will be:
Investment in alternative energy sources. This can be paid for very simply by eliminating the billions of dollars of subsidies given to oil companies. There will be secondary benefits such as creation of new high-tech jobs here in the USA, cleaner environment, less dependence on foreign oil and thus making the USA less vulnerable to influence from oil exporting nations.
Implement recommendations of 9-11 Commission. This will benefit the US for obvious reasons. We are still very vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
We pressure our allies, especially those in the Mideast, to assist the new Iraqi government to stabilize and to advance peace and security. It is in the interest of Mideast countries to have a stable Iraq. With the billions of dollars saved, we can invest in real Homeland Security, which will not only make us safer, but enable us to invest in new technologies, thus creating new jobs here in the USA, and developing a stronger economy for the 21st Century. This way, we bring our troops home sooner, saving american lives, and strengthening our military by not being spread so thin and concentrated in one theater in the war against terror.
These are just some of the ways that the US, under the leadership of a democrat-controlled congress, will benefit.

It depends on how left/how fast they try to steer the country. The Republicans for the past two years started acting like moderate Democrats....and all the Democrats running for office ran acting as moderate Republicans...or at least their agendas.
Worst case scenerio is that the terrorists will be able to get into our country and start problems. Over the next two years the Republicans still have George W. in office to veto some garbage. I think the next two years is just going to yield democratic investigations of everything from Katrina Oversight to misappropriation of Democrat toilet paper during Y2K. Ultimately I think George W. will hear the word "impeachment" before he leaves office. So the next two years will yield nothing. Now....should a Democrat get in office and they retain both Houses.....then there will be problems.
For example....the Democrats are already talking about "Tax Adjustments". Let me translate that as......"We are raising taxes."

No party has a pipeline to truth and wisdom, and all parties have good and bad ideas. Our democracy is healthiest when the parties regularly gain and lose power, and it's always good for those in power to learn they can be voted out of power.
The Democrats have an excellent chance to gain even more power and even the Presidency if they pass some laws that people want, and stay away from partisan tricks like articles of impeachment.
However, if we have a major terrorist attack in the next two years, they will almost certainly lose their majority in the next elections.

Before 1994 the Dems had control of both houses for 40 years. I personally think my life got loads better when the Republicans took over, my family was upper middle class, and finally got to keep some of that money.

Given that there will be no major new laws to screw us all over for 2 years, while the President and Congress fight it out, I'm ecstatic.
Plus, it will give all of those who voted Democrat in opposition to the war a chance to find out what they really got. I don't think some of them are going to be happy.

No, it's not going to help. It's going to make things much worse than they are now.
They don't understand the Muslim problem and they don't understand the illegal immigration problem (the invasion going on of our country from the South)
They mistakenly think Al Gore knows what he's talking about on global warming . .
They don't understand economics either, but that doesn't matter. It's cyclical so they can't really screw that up too much.

Yes.
1. We will begin gaining back some of the trust we lost from the rest of the world
2. We will be able to have adult conversations about difficult issues such as abortion, stem cell research, and gay marriage rather than the ol' the Bible says...
3. We will begin to be able to think outside of the box when it comes to Iraq.
4. We will begin to prioritize social issues in more than just a "no new taxes" viewpoint.
That's just a start...

It would be hard to make things any worst. The Democrats are going to withdraw from Iraq this means not killing our own soldiers (almost 3,000) for someone elses country and saving billions upon billions of dollars to put into our own countries growth instead of someone elses. It's time to stop playing big brother to someone we barely even know.
Since we'll be saving all that money and not having our own soldiers killed for someone elses country I am sure that we'll be better off.
