Ok, ok peopel. So I make a typing error because I'm tired and suddently that makes me illiterate? Oh dear, some people really do need to get out more. The world is becoming far too petty and aggressive because of mongols like some of the people who've replied to me.

I read an article the other day detailing how acting as a priest at Japanese, European style wedding ceremonies was really well paid, might do that as well as teaching :)
Still, setting out for South America in Feb so it'll be a while before I reach Asia. Instead of taking some Tolstoy, Murikami, Twain or García Márquez, I should take the Grade 1 beginners English??!?

You can make more money in Japan, but Korea is cheaper to live, so you'll probably save more money. I lived and worked in both place. You can save a lot in Korea because it is cheaper to live there. A salary in Japan is higher though. You can still save a lot of money, though.

I'm a Japanese living in Korea. Things a lot cheaper in Korea and it may sounds good but Japan pays more money and right now they'll need more English teachers in Elementary schools or even in Kindergartens since they're trying to change the way Japanese people learn English. It is a lot easier/convenient and less stress to live in Japan than Korea. Over here in Korea, people have no common sense. Some people do like it here in Korea but most of the people(mostly Americans and some Koreans) just want to leave this country A.S.A.P. One guy said it was better in Iraq.

I dont know which will pay more- but I can tell you that I Lived in Sasebo Japan for three years and I got $20 an hour and that was without the Japanese batting an eye. I also taught in the Japanese elementary schools for several months at $30 an hour. In Tokyo Japan I had heard you can get as much as $40 an hour. Of corse you make more if you teach groups. It is work and you have to prepare an exciting lesson. But it is worth it and a lot of fun!

Hmm, could be Japan? But living over there can be costly, so i don't know if you can exactly 'earn' much. (But it doesn't cost as much as London! Believe me, I was in Tokyo before I came to London.) But if you are going to teach in Japan, you need a degree, as that's the minimum qualification.
Check JET's job, as well as NOVA and AEON.
I don't know about Korea much, sorry. I haven't been there, but I heard food is really nice.

Teach English in Korea, there's more of a need for it there, my cousin works as an English teacher in Korea and he told me, there is more of a demand for learning english in Korea than in Japan, as in Korea, they are more willing to learn the language!

check out the JET scheme http://www.jet-uk.org/

I had a friend who participated in the JET scheme about 10 years ago & thouroughly enjoyed the experience & another friend who's just gone out there !!

Be aware that the salary paid appears generous if you are from say the UK or US but the cost of living is substantially higher in Japan.

Good luck, I'm sure it would be a fantastic life experience !

Japan. The currency is stronger and the labor laws set high minimum salaries for foreign teachers.
