I can't picture the show without either Stan/Kyle/Cartman. I like every characters on the show because they have their own personalities and everything, but the absolute best... the one who really really makes South Park diff from all the rest.... CARTMAN

yes the worst character they ever invented.....is my favorite
why?
because it's a retarded show, that has an intelligent message (sometimes), but usually it acts stupid to be funny
and towlie embodies all that the show essentially represents
a few classic one liners
a memorable appearance
and it also acknowledges
The devil would be a close second......he acts so gay.

I watch the show in French but if I translate the character's name it would litterally be "Mr. Slave" (maybe it's the right name I don't know) anyway he's Mr. Garrison's boyfriend ;)
