There's a whole opera about it (in English): Gilbert & Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance"! It's about a young boy who is apprentenced to a band of pirates (who are all orphans and won't take anything from them - they wind up never getting anything because everyone knows this and tells them they are orphans). It's kind of silly (he finds out he has to keep his apprentanship until his 21st birthday, which means he has to stay until he's in his 80s because he was born on February 29). It's kind of silly, but it's pretty good. Also includes the song "I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General" that you have probably heard somewhere.

Try Great Big Sea - Canadian Band from Newfoundland.

Scots/Irish Celtic heritage in a decidedly modern context. Their arrangements are honeycombed with the accordions, bouzoukis, pipes, whistles and fiddles typical of traditional music and nicely handled.

Songs include "Drunken Sailor".
