Carbon/transfer paper is used to transfer designs onto wood for carving/woodworking.

You can do what is known as "decoumpauge" the paper printing. Take a coat the outside with two to three coates of varnish. Then soak the paper and rub off the back side. What will be left is a print of the inked surface right on the varnish. Then you can glue that thin coat onto the wood. This is quite a common process and there are many " decoumpauge" products available to do such work in your local Arts Crafts Store Including books on how to do this.
