I teach seniors.... but I've taught every grade from 9 to 12.... and these are the biggies I think every girl should know...
First, some advice every freshman needs to hear....
1. DO NOT WRITE LETTERS!! DO NOT WRITE ANYTHING YOU WOULDN'T MIND SEEING PRINTED IN THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER THAT YOUR GRANDMOTHER READS AT HER CHURCH!!! Unfortunately your friends may not be as discreet with your private buisness as you'd like and teachers and other students can end up reading your deep, dark secrets.
2. Be friends with everyone. Don't try to have a clique like the movie Mean Girls or the Gossip Girls books. You may not like everyone, but be nice to everyone. It pays in the long run. Your best friend in 9th grade will most likely not be your best friend when you are a senior, so don't burn bridges.
3. Don't go boy crazy, even if you are the prettiest girl in your class. I know a lot of kids say they don't care about their reputations, but one day you will. You only get a few chances to make mistakes with your reputation. You don't want to be the girl every guy wants to "date," but that no one will take to prom.
4. Don't date just one guy all through high school. Spend time with your friends, too, not just with a boy. And don't let a boy choose your friends for you.... be your own person and like yourself. Don't think you are married in high school!!
5. Realize now that you will probably suffer a broken heart at least once, and begin telling yourself now you will get over it and he isn't the only boy in the world who could possibly ever make you happy.
6. Have fun, socalize, but remember you go to school to get an education. Start studying hard in 9th grade.....your grades count in high school and your class rank is determined beginning in grade 9. You want to be in the top ten percent if you can possibly do it. Most kids won't start caring about grades until junior year, so if you start in the 9th grade you will be ahead of most others!!
7. Don't be loud to try to get attention. Some girls talk loud and act silly to get attention - but that is not the kind of attention you want. People will laugh at you.....
8. Don't chase boys. Yes, it is 2006, but let boys pursue you....show interest, but let him call you.....
9. GET INVOLVED!! Join clubs or try out for sports teams or drama or the school paper or yearbook, etc....... this is critical!! Disappointments you face will be easier to bear if you have interests and activities to keep you busy. You will meet people and you will enjoy school more if you are involved - you will feel ownership and pride .... I promise!!
Good Luck..... The next four years will be the best four years of your life if you have the right attitude and are a nice person.....:)

Well I can't directly answer your question... but I can tell you that no matter what happens, high school is just high school. Once you're done, none of it will matter any more. You can keep the friends you want to keep and you can forget about everyone else - should you choose. I had a great time in HS and made great friends, but college was by far the better experience.

Don't worry, you'll be fine. Just be yourself - in the end being true to yourself will be the most important thing you can do.

Hm. I'm still in high school, but I would suggest not messing with the upper class (unless you know them...). As for dating, don't worry too much about it, most of the time its just awkward flings that last a few months (if that long). High school IS a lot different than junior high. Ex. There isn't as much immaturity (though there is still alot) but there is a lot more gossiping, so i'd prepare to hear some things that people say behind your back. Everyone has it happen to them at least once. Just relax though, and it should be really no problem for you.

High School is all about finding yourself and who is real around you..stay to your old friends and yet it's ok to make new ones...Throughout high school you are going to mature as a person..so you shouldn't be afriad of what people think about you because sooner or later their ideas are going to change..just stay ture to yourself and who you are ..dont worry about people's opinions..

Still you dont wanna start off high school with a bad rep
-hang with the right crowd..
-dont try to cause trouble
-dont get into other people's business

Other then that you're all set!
Good luck!

I would say it's best to focus on getting good grades so you will be able to get into college! Thats the most important thing If I could go back to highschool grades would be my main focus because unlike friends, popularity, and crushes grades are MOST important in the long run! Your friends and crushes will not take care of you when you are an adult only a good education will! I would also advise you to practice abstinence and safe sex . Teen pregnancy, and inadequate education are most crippling to highschool students Good Luck with school!

Well.. I would personally say that there's no one way around stuff. But do your work well, abide the rules and regulations, respect the teachers, be calm, make good friends, and get involved. Help others when they need it (make sure it's within your capability too), and never let your friend copy your work, but you should guide them through their work (teach them). Cheating is bad and that would only put them in tougher spot in future. And always put a smile on your face, it helps

well, no matter what, just be yourself. and have fun, because thatz what high school is about: hanging out with friends and of course learning. no matter where you go, you'll always have your share of enemies who hate you because of your attitude or someting else, so whatever you do, dont let those kind of people get to you. they're just idiots. if you dont want people making fun of you because you're a freshman, try acting more mature and show them that you're just as good as any sophomore, junior, or senior, but always remember to be yourself. ok, i guess thatz it. enjoy high school and have fun!
