Dont worry about it... Most commonly girls have 21 or 28 day cycles... Some girls have 40 day cycles though... And everyone is different... Your period will rarely come the exact day you expect it to from the month before... And because you just started your period it will be less regular than someone whos had it for years... It's also not uncommon for a girl to get her period once or twice then not get it again for another few months or even a year... Periods are a very random thing, and as your body matures and you get use to your period you will be able to tell when its coming and it will be more regular...

You count from the first day of one period to the first day of the next. Thus if a period starts November 10 and ends November 14, and the next one starts December 8, the cycle length is 28 days. Period length is too variable to include that in your cycle.

The cycle starts from the day you start your period. It is day one (day period starts) and you count every day on the calendar. Depending on the length of your cycle, on your count, when you reach 28 or 30 that is the time your next period will start.

You start counting from the first day you have your period. Mine started again at every 26 days...so that can be different for different women.

Your mom's right. The first day of your period is the day you begin counting your cycle.
