I work with a a guy who lacks social skills, not a team player but takes credit for work done by others. He listens loudly to republican talk radio and contains shows on sensitive issues like immigration reform, gay rights bans, abortion bans, the war on Iraq. I don't want to be lisenting to this all fking day! I would not mind music, but a radio station that it seems to be telling you that democrats are stupid, gays will go to hell, immigrants are terrorist, and god is the only powerful being on the universe. Im not sure if I should take it up with HR or my boss. He also likes to do "his own thing" and does not share any of his work findings with other team members and only with the boss.

Help me please before I pour gasoline on myself and set me on fire!

Let your manager know that this employees actions are making your workplace a hostile one.

It's entirely unreasonable for this coworker to be forcing his political views on you - he can get some earphones and continue listening if your management feels it's appropriate.

Additionally, I would call him on the carpet if he tried to take credit for any of the work that I did...In fact, I would do so in front of the rest of the team as well as my boss (in a polite, professional manner), so that EVERYONE is clear about who really did the work.

Take it up with your boss first...Take it to HR if your boss doesn't take action to support you.

That's awful.

If you're feeling this way, I'm sure your other co-worker's are too. Talk to your boss about how you feel that this guy is effecting everyone's morale and job performance. Make it less about you, and more about your concern for everyone else. That way, you don't come off as a "tattle-tale" and your boss will be thankful that you're looking out for his company. Also, you may want to mention that it's very unprofessional to have biased talk radio in the office. What if a sales representative or a client heard it and was offended?

If worse comes to worse you can always just sabotage his radio ;)

Dont mention that music would be okay. Object to the radio on the grounds that it is affecting the productivity of the workplace, look for examples of this, eg people wasting time debating stuff, other poeple complaining about it too.
It is very often the case that innocent people are forced to find new employment when stuck with dreadful co-workers. Dont stick your head up too high, it is possible that he has a strategy in his dealings with the boss.

Talk to your company HR. IMMEDIATELY. There are laws to protect you from this type of harassment in the workplace. I'm sure you are not alone in your feelings. In addition, It sounds to me that your boss is not doing his/her job when It comes to promoting a positive, comfortable workplace environment, coupled with the fact that your co-worker and boss seem to be "partners in crime" so to speak.

Please don't set yourself on fire!!!!!!

Don't pour the gas on yourself. Take out the guy who sounds ignorant of his coworkers. When he is listening to that stuff call your boss over to have a listen.

You should either have a talk with the guy and tell him that you have problems with him but i would really focus on telling the boss that this guy has problems on his own. Good Luck and dont pour gasoline on yourself are u nuts ?
