Do they not realize the withdrawl of alot of evangelical votes lost the Republicans the election? Do they not realize many conservatives are simply economic conservatives, not social conservatives? I just dont understand why I am stereotyped as a evangelical fundamentalist whack job when I tell someone I am a Republican, why is that?

Its funny, you ask a question and those who are lefties, answer it with either a question, or insults...... They speak of Religion, likes its a dirty word..... Actually they stereotype it, the lefties are against Religion as they are Rep/Con..... & figure they both go together!

Your question is rather backward. Are you trying to discern between Evangelicals and the Repubs or Religious people in general and them, OR make a case that not all Repubs are religious?

However, I think that the existence of the VERY right-wing Christian Coalition and similar groups and how much money and airtime they devote to Repub causes is a good reason for people to link the two groups. However, it's obviously not all Repubs who are religious, nor all religious people who are Republican. For example, my relatives are all Catholic and conservative socially, but mostly vote Democrat.

Still, Maybe if more Republicans like you got out and criticized the evangelicals more often, this stereotype would fade somewhat. IMO, almost all stereotypes have at least SOME basis in truth!

I am socially conservative but fiscally liberal and an evangelical. The republican tend to have more traditional values which most evangelical do as well. Oh and I don't vote party lines. I have voted for a very liberal congressman and a very conservative president. Just because someone has certain beliefs does not make them a whack job, referring to people as that would though.

Well, I am a Christian and a republican, but I don't consider myself a wack job! I think people assume that because a lot of Repbulicans and conservatives are religious. I'm not speaking for everyone, but that has been what I've noticed. It's funny, if someone says their Democrats, people automatically assume their not religious. My parents are Democrats and are Christians who are very active in their church. Just goes to show you, stereotyping is not productive!

by way of fact they have been given no longer something. I surely have under no circumstances considered this form of bunch of retards working on the GOP value ticket. those that 0.5 of a huge gamble to furnish Obama a run for his funds are Paul and Huntsman. yet they do no longer stand a huge gamble against Obama. The religious precise ruined the Republican party via bible thumping lots of arcane regulations that should get you arrested as we talk in case you probably did those issues, like the Bible extolling you to deal which includes your slaves with kindness. Oh ought to flow on however the ultimate suited wing clobber regulations from the Bible are no longer something yet a set of mistranslations via previous adult males with an time table that are merely ridiculous via todays standards. They forget that tis usa replaced into no longer according to religious theory from any faith, They have been according to easy sense equality for all it is voters and have withstood the try of time.

Considering the mass amounts of debt that Bush has caused, and the Billions he has sold to China I find the idea of Republicans being 'economical conservative' LAUGHABLE.
In all honesty, I don't know any republicans who don't watch anything but Fox News and that O'Riley fool.
You are dubbed a wacko job via your belief in Bush and his cronies. They preach family values and how many of his Republican cabinet has stepped down out of a scandal! They are all mini Rush Limbaugh's. WACKO JOB ??? ABSOLUTELY!

I'm a fiscal conservative and I would have been a republican if they had stuck to their true conservative values. The religious right has hijacked the GOP, it is not the party of Lincoln anymore. I never thought you were a bible thumper. That is like assuming a democrat is a liberal who is soft on crime and wants big government.

Why, as a liberal, am I stereo typed as being Non-Christian? I am a Christian and I am proud of it. If you are on this site much and read the responses of many of the Republicans, you don't have to worry all that much about the religious stereo type. Judging by many of these Republicans responses, I think is is safe to say that a great many of them are not Christian.

Come on. no one insists you're ALL like that. but to vote for a guy who says God wanted him to be president, and that he talks to God? This haggard guy? Ann Coulter calling ALL Democrats Godless? A bunch of nut jobs. These are the faces of your party. Sad but true. Deal with it.

I don't believe very many Republicans are religious. I believe that most of those that say they are are just doing it for the votes and campaign donations.
