Both are my favourite players. After Baresi retired, Maldini became my no1.
Both were excellent but Franco Baresi is someone you don't get to see very often.
He was elegant, yet hard. He was a leader of men, he was composure under pressure. He was the Beckenbauer for Milan and Italy.
That Milan has retired his No6 jersey speaks volumes of him.
Baresi is my choice. Many who rate Maldini are too young to remember how good Franco was.

i like how everyone on your list is italian. But to be fair and just, Scirea and Nesta don't deserve to be there. Cannavaro probably doesn't either. Maldini and Baresi are definitely 2 of the best ever, along with Beckenbauer, Cafu, Bobby Moore, maybe Andreas Brehme?
