Yea, I think its sexy that someone would be open-minded enough to embrace another culture.

"Act Black?" If I may ask, what exactly does that mean? Maybe it's just me, but I have seen many black people in my lifetime, most of which having different personalities, ways of speaking, and patterns of behavior. What I am trying to say is that there is obviously no such thing as "acting black." Sure, there are many..MANY...stereotypes surrounding us (blacks), and culturally, there may be a few things that distinguishes us from other cultures. Nevertheless, that whole "acting black" thing is a crock!
P.S. I must mention, however, that there are some non-blacks who give in to the stereotypes surrounding black culture and feel that they have to bahave in a way that fits into those stereotypes-- especially when they encounter a black individual. Now this is wrong!

Define "acting black." Do you expect black women all act like they are from the hood? If so, this is something you need to work on. And in answer to your question, you should be who you are. You should realize that acting "ghetto(like your name)" is something that comes from having a very tough life, and something most people who live in the ghetto do not view as a positive thing. Don't you think they'd love to go to a high school that doesn't leak in the roof, have textbooks that aren't from 10 years ago, not worry about getting asked to join a gang, getting shot, etc? Be who you are and be thankful for the life you were given.

sometimes it just happens if that is how you feel comfortable then that is how it should be. However, i question the phrase 'act black'. How does black act? Don't you mean ghetto? because I know many black people that are about as mainstream as the elderly white folks I was brought up by.

I think you meant to ask, "Is it ok for a white girl to act the way she thinks African Americans do?" Not all African Americans are hood or act ghetto. That's just a stereotype so let her act any way she wants. One day she'll realize she's jus the media's puppet and the epitome of what most (of us) African Americans are trying to rid our race of-ignorance.

What does it mean to you to act black? This may sound old fashion, but you should act like who you are. You must be honest in all your relationships if you want them to last. You must especially be honest with yourself.

if shes follows in the "mannerisms" of black people without thinking about it just because she grew up in the hood, then it is ok. but if she really has no connections to any of that then shes just another "wigger."
