Retail employees are the front line to the organisation's customers.
Therefore they can build or break the company's reputation.
One of the key variables the Human Resource Manager will be looking for is your customer service skills & presentation (not neccessarily whether you are "beautiful" or "ugly" but well groomed & dressed).
Another key attribute would be your ability to quickly determine what the needs & wants of the customer is & to try to effectively & efficiently satisfy that need & want. This would contribute towards customer satisafaction, possibly customer loyalty, & thus organisational profit.
The retail industry is generally fast-paced, so the ability to think quickly & work under pressure is also highly regarded.
Hope this helps.

yes. If you're want to work in a retail establishment, you have to look like an enthusiastic person. Someone who applys for the same position as you who looks gloomy would not get the job while the person who looks like a "people" person would. When you shop, look around the sales associates. See that they are all smiling and talkative.

For every job that's true. But it helps wearing clothes from the retail clothing store that you want to apply to. In the interview, you can mention how much you love shopping there and that you are familiar with their merchandise, and through this knowledge, you can assist customers.
