In these disaster movies where America is the only country suffering, why don't other countries help us?

America gets hit by some force of Mother Nature because we get her pissed off (Its not nice to get her mad), whether its earthquakes, fire, any kind of devastation, where it affects America only, how can the rest of the world, especially Canada and Mexico not know what we go through (in the movie only) and offer to help us? In these movies, no one helps us. Ever wonder why?

I think most americans have this built in ego that makes us think that we are the greatest and beyond help from anyone. While our ego also makes us think that the rest of the world wants and needs our help. Could be carrying over to our film making as well.
