I have heard it said that Natives don't like to have their pictures taken when they are in their cultures 'dress'
They believe that a picture has stolen their soul.

There's another way to look at it. When you look back to the good ole days when that picture was taken, it's sometimes hard to take when you miss them years.

Definitely. Out of the hundreds, possibly thousands of pictures taken by family and friends of me over the years, very few look like me. They resemble me, but not enough. My avatar looks more like me than pics taken.

There is some magical, mystical quality in me that cannot be captured on film, save for a half dozen odd pics. I think that's my soul.

No. While I think that cameras can "capture" the soul of a person metaphorically. The soul isn't something that can be broken up into pieces or depleted.

A camera is made up of man-made stuff like metal and film so I don't think it has any power over me.

This was a belief held by primitive people that were not very tech savvy. Who knows maybe they were far more knowledgeable than we are.
