this is for a porfolio and has to be used throughout several pages, I am stuck. I am thinking like visions, goals, the truth, able to be myself and I guess that is where I am at tying it all together.

"Writing is like daydreaming" conjures up visions of a warm spring day lying on a blanket at the park, and looking at the clouds. You enjoy the sensory pleasures of the day; the warmth, the birds singing, the smell of barbecued chicken ,
the cool breeze on your face. Then you look at the clouds and a thought goes through your head. You are sailing on the ocean toward Hawaii and you see a whale swimming by. Not far behind is a ship; it looks like a pirate ship from 1707. Is it Captain Cook? You hear screams and shouts. No. It is a slaver from the Ivory Coast, heading for port in Virginia. Now it's 1859 and you are a slave on a tobacco plantation in Virginia
working in the fields daydreaming about your wife and child who were shipped off to Georgia...

You see, I have just cataloged a day dream which I just had while writing this for you. How is the day dream like writing?
Well, each vision I had in the daydream led to another vision
and then another, each vision being linked to the previous one by a common thread. This is much like what you do when you write. You tell a story by linking together your thoughts with a common thread or idea. But while the daydream just goes on and on, at some point you have to reel your writing in and conclude the dream.

What about the word "weave" as a metaphor for "writing"? Hence, "I love to weave daydreams." And thus, the "weaving" is incorporated and repeated throughout:
"...meticulously weave dazzling visions."
"...strategically weaving together my goals."
"...to pursue the truth along the woven web of life."

I hope this helps you. Good luck.

I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but "writing is like daydreaming" is not a metaphor. It's a simile, if it has the words "like" or "as".

The first thing that came to my mind was free writing, where you just write whatever is coming into your thoughts at the time. Don't know if that helps...hope it does.
