I use 2 parts wheat bran to 1 part sweet feed, or complete feed. Add water to the consistency of really wet oatmeal. I have heard of some folks using rice bran, especially if the horse gets dry rice bran most of the time.

Add warm water in cooler weather, cooler water on warmer days. Let the mix soak for 20 minutes before feeding.

You could get fancy and add a few handfuls of chopped carrots, raisins, and diced apples along with some electrolytes.

Remember, the horse's stomach only holds 4 quarts so you don't want to feed any more than that. And the dry bran *will* expand once you add the water.

I use about a half scoop of bran and wet it until it's a bit sloppy using warm water. I'll throw in a handful of grain and some molassas. I also chop some apples and carrots, and if your horse likes peppermints, you can throw in a couple of those. Don't give too much, it can upset their stomachs if you do. It's a good way to get a little extra water into their systems on a cold day when they don't want to drink much. You can experiment with what your horse likes and customize the mash to his taste.

Bran mash would flavor strong, notwithstanding it extremely do not have a lot nutritional cost, as some people have stated. I feed it once weekly to assist chop up the monotony of grain, and that all of them love it. yet when you're searching to placed on weight, bran mash isn't a thanks to bypass. i might want to also say Equine Senior for that. you could blend your complement in some thing you want, on condition that your horse eats it. no matter if that's a liquid, i might want to recommend including it to the feed as we talk till now feeding, rather of making waiting it beforehand. That way, the feed gained't get soggy and smooth; i understand some beasties who hate that! The bran mash we make is bran and slightly of sweet feed blended with water. probable a 4:a million, bran and sweet feed.
