This year probably not. It all depends on Lamar Odom and not Kobe Bryant. Anyone who knows basketball knows that as long as Lamar plays soft and lazy the Lakers aren't going anywhere. Kobe could either score a lot and be called selfish or pass to his teammates and be called selfish. It doesn't matter what he does. Will Kobe be the next MJ? No. Even if he becomes better than MJ which I doubt, the media will not allow it. They loved MJ and hate Kobe.

Though the Lakers look good now, you must remember it's still early in the season and the new Lakers are a young team. They'll have a good year, but I don't think they'll make it all the way. Next year should be better.

Secondly, Kobe is and never will be the next MJ. Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson. He lacks the professionalism and character either of those players always had. Back in MJ's time, the athletes were role models. They weren't given a choice and they did their jobs well.

Go Lakers!

No way in helll. Lakers are second to the Clippers and guess what its goign to be that way for a long long time. Lakers need to rebuild. Kobe started the rebuilding with his change of number as it is a new start for the lakers but as for Champions they are so far from it maybe in another 10-15 years they will be top contendors again. Now only thing that keeps the Lakers name in any conversation is Kobe. Get rid of him rest of the NBA will not be sweating them like they arnt right now.

Also, no one is like MJ. MJ had Pippen and that was it. Never had a great center like Kobe. Just average along with every other player on that roster.

Look at it Pippen, Jorden, Rodman, Harper, and Longley with Toni Kukoc as the 6th man. Lets be honest not the best players in the world but JORDAN made them better. Kobe didnt make Shaq better or the rest of the team. So remeber that no one is close to Jordans level yet

the lakers have a chance to win because of Kobe Bryant. They might lose to spurs of Mavs. Kobe Bryant is not going to becomethe next MJ

Do they have a chance? Yes... a VERY slim one. The lakers aren't even the best team in their own arena.

They are going to finish behind the Clippers again.

kobe will only be the next kobe. After all, #8 was one guy, and #24 is somebody else, right?

tremendously good odds truthfully. here is what i think of the opportunities are around. warmth 20% Lakers 20% Thunder 15% Spurs 10% Bulls 5% Clippers 5% Celtics 5% relax of the league 20% I unquestionably hate the Lakers, yet i actually style of want them to win so Steve Nash get finally get that ring he merits plenty. i don't think of there is absolutely everyone interior the league good now who merits a ring greater beneficial than Steve.

I believe they have a good chance. We are all witnessing the growth of this Lakers team. From Kobe to Bynum, we are all onlookers of how this team is from once a mediocre to a full-pledged contender.

The Lakers didn't make any changes in the offseason because of foreseable reasons. This team is young and has way too much talent to put to waste. That is why, they only added some pieces.

With Kobe now finally realizing that he doesn't need to shoot 20+ shots per game and relying on his teammates, the emergence of one Andrew Bynum and one Luke Walton and the walking Triple Double Lamar Odom, I don't see how some people are still in doubt of what this team is going to do.

I'm a Miami Heat fan and a solid Shaq fanatic, but I know my Basketball 101 and I see talent and a very deep roster in this Laker Organization.

No and No. Dwyane Wade is the only one with a chance of coming close to Jordan.
