Just suck it up and tell yourself that she's only human. If she bites your head off, then you know she's not worth being friends with. If she's nice, then you have a new friend.

If you just want to be friends, she can't interpret that as any harm done. You might as well just talk to someone instead of wasting the rest of your time wondering whether or not you should. Go for it!
