I need some answers to solve a debate. Which one would you prefer to be- a drummer or guitarist? Why?
I refer to rock/pop guitarists mostly but any answers are appreciated!

For me it would be the bass. I tried to learn, but I just couldn't get both hands working together.
Maybe if I spent some time practicing instead of coming here to Answers I could learn it.
Technically, I guess guitarist would be closest to my preference.

I say a drummer, not only cause I'm one myself. Playing guitar is cool and all, but everybody wants to do it. Being a drummer means you can let out all your anger on them and you control the tempo and beat of the band, your in control. Although people who play guitar are noticed more, drummers have lots of advantages. You can always change the sound of your drum millions of ways by just tuning them, without buying attachments, there are many different ways to play them, and if your planing to be famous, them you have a better chance since there are probably less drummers than guitarist. Remember, there can be no band without a drummer. But the decision is all up to you, this is just my opinion.

being a guitarist you will know the difference between a drummer and a drum machine?? you only have to punch information into a drum machine once!

i'm a guitarist too and love it. drummers are hidden away at the back and steal girlfriends when guitarists and lead vocals are fighting for attention and to be the leader of the group

I'm a drummer...but it IS a lot easier to take a guitar from place to place as opposed to a drum kit. I've done it and it DOES SUCK!

I wish I knew some good guitarist jokes.

It's always better to be a drummer cause almost everything dependts on u in the band.I'm a musician and I know that if u screw up everything will go down. But if u were a guitarist,u can always count on the beat-u have more to think about the improvisation.

I'd actually like to do both. I play guitar right now (granted, it's acoustic, but whatever) and I have always wanted to play drums.

If I was in a rock band, I'd say give me the drums. I don't know why, I just think that being in a rock band that the drummers are the ones who really get to rock rock ROCK, but usually tend to stay sort of in the "background" and don't necessarily get as much recognition as guitartists, which would suit my personality fine :)

Personally, I am a guitarist, and I love it. I tried once to learn to play the drums, but wasn't very good at it. But most of all I love to play piano.

guitarist, the joke is... what do you call someone who can't play music, a drummer... But the thing is, both are extremely difficult to perfect and both are cool.
