How come the sports writers don't talk about this series of possibly being a White Sox scandal.Didn't you people see how the Detroit pitching staff threw strikes over the plate but they could never through the ball to first, second,or third accurately to their target. How about Joel Zumaya's throw to third base.I never laughed so hard while watching a baseball game like the sloppy performance by Detroit in the series. The Cardinals scored mostly when Detroit made errors.I don't remember Detroit making a single error against the Yankees and Oakland.

Kluggy congratulations you have the dumbest answer on yahoo answers. You said the Cardinals outplayed Detroit. They both sucked.Detroit made errors and that allowed the Cardinals to score more runs than Detroit.Pujols was a joke.Jim Edmonds couldn't catch a simple pop up.Curtis Granderson dove and missed a catchable ball. One team sucked more than the other thats how the Cardinals won.

Tigers were flat they just had the better part of a week off no matter how much time they put in practice it is just that practice the cards pitcher were pitching perfect it was very similar to the 1988 series except the 2006 cards were much better than the 88 dodgers and the 06 tigers were a little worse than the 88 Oakland's baseball club but the Tigers were outplayed and there was not a Kirk Gibson moment for this series sometimes the underdog wins and that is why we watch the game.

activity a million: Tigers activity 2: White Sox activity 3: Tigers i think of Verlander will beat Buehrle yet Edwin Jackson will beat Penny. The Tigers have been enjoying rather stable presently at residing house. (Rangers sequence) i think of Max Schrezer will defeat John Danks in a shootout

According to Sports Illustrated, there was a sign in Busch stadium that someone brought that said "Hit it to the pitcher." Fact is the Tigers fielded and threw like little leaguers in the World Series. That's a scandal, but they did not intentionally throw the Series. They did throw it away, drop it and generally bobble it, but not intentionally.

If you actually watched the footage as it happened, you could see that the Tigers pitchers made mechanical errors when they threw. They were constantly throwing off the wrong foot and that caused them to throw behind their intended targets. I highly doubt that Zumaya and his associates went to the trouble of learning how to orchestrate that so flawlessly. Fact of the matter is they choked, but it was no scandal.

I think the "dirt" scandal was worse than all those errors.
It does not look like the Tigers were trying to throw away the series.
But Shoeless Joe also had a pretty high batting average during the 1919 World Series.
Makes me wonder this is a Midwest thing...

Nope, no scandal. Just a bunch of rookies whos buttholes tightned up when they felt the pressure of pitching in the World Series! They fielded horribly but they didn't pitch much better either. Dont kid yourself.

Yea, it was strange that 2 World Series teams could suck so badly. It didn't seem like they were even trying.

No you idiot, the Cardinals completely outplayed them, they were on a hitting streak, and their pitchers stepped up when they needed to. Detriot merely folded under pressure.
