When did your family arrive in the US and through what port? If it was New York from about 1900 forward, try www.ellisisland.org which has all the steamship arrivals at Ellis Island New York. Another very good site is www.ancestry.com and don't forget to visit www.cyndislist.com which is a mammoth genealogy site that will no doubt have many links to help you.

The website for the Mormon ancestry search is www.familysearch.org. You don't have to be a member to use this site and there is lots of helpful info on it.

Also, look the phone book for the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building in your area. Most have family history libraries that are open to the public (again, you don't have to be a member to use this) and there will be someone there who can help you in your search - they will help you find the best resources available. The people who work in the libraries are knowledgeable about researching your family history. The only thing they will charge you for is if you visit a website that charges or if you print something. Otherwise, their expertise and advice is free. It's a good place to do some research without spending a whole lot of money.

And do try the Ellis Island website. If they came through that port, there will probably be a record of them.

Chicagoland area Illinois has a Bohemian Cemetary in Hillside, Illinois, I would look up the cemetaries first on the net, sounds funny but true this will show you where many have lived for many years, and they keep records of families and friends of the deceased. There is a city of Chicago has a Bohemian Catholic Organization you might want to check out that on the web as well. Other than that they have a big community in Chicago. I wish you luck God Bless

The best place to do a search on your ancestry is at the Mormon temple library. Check their site they may have answers on the site. They seem to be real big on this and it is the best place to do research from. I am not Mormon but my family did research from their and my ex-wife did her research from their resources.

Did she come through Ellis Island? If yes, she should try their website.
