no uk has a different code to the us version

Yes, because unlike the PS2, PS3 & XBox etc it is not region specific.
So any game from anywhere in the world will work with your PSP.
This is why Sony are currently suing companies in the far east that are selling PSPs online for shipping them to Europe.
