I have to organize a "Samba" routine for myself and some coworkers. What kind of songs can we "samba" to that are contemporary and recent? Shakira? Nelly Furtado? Help, please!

Yes, you can probably find some songs by Shakira. I'm not very up-to-date on her repertoire. I'd recommend going to www.ballroomdancers.com or to www.danceshopper.com and listen to the samples of the sound tracks from Latin CDs. You might also look into "new releases" section on those websites. I personally like raggaeton-style sambas, like track #8 on this one: http://www.danceshopper.com/ballroom-dance-music.Latin%20Music%205
