Obviously, this is a very subjective question.
If I were an Iraqi who mysteriously lost a loved one who was subsequently dug up in a mass grave years later by American troops - the answer is a resounding, yes.
If I am a critic of the war and feel, despite the overall conditions of the country under Saddam, that it was more "stable" before we ousted him, I would answer, no.
Both answers would be honest and the truth - depending on ones perspective.

No one would with a grain of common sense would argue that Saddam was a sadistic, ruthless killer. But during his reign as dictator there was at least some semblance of order and infrastructure. Iraq right now is in the throes of utter chaos with no end in sight. It's a virtual bloodbath. On average, 100 Iraqi civilians are killed each and every day and our troops are being systematically slaughtered. Given these facts, I think it's fair to say that the world is indeed better off without Saddam, but Iraq is not.

great answer leanne
the problem is most people here sit in front of their tvs eating their mcdonalds playing video games and all they see or hear about are snippets of truth. I bet less than 10 % of the people on this site know what is really going on in the sudan right now. people dont care as much as they used to in this country. Its what will cause our demise just like every other great nation that has come before us. Yes I know that involves looking up history which most wont do but has to be stated.

Certainly not! Iraq is now in the middle of a civil war that has been perpetuated by the Bush administration. Bush has killed 665,000 Iraqis and 3,000 U.S. soldiers just because he wants to 'get even' with Saddam for humiliating hs daddy during Desert Storm and because Cheney wants all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands! -RKO-

Yeah, those people would probably have already been executed by Saddam, at least now they can live to learn to trust freedom and except others views.
Even if that possibly takes a little disagreement.

I think you would have to ask an Iraqi family that question. My guess would be that they still live in fear, but perhaps five years ago, the toilets and the lights worked.
