I think they may be just the same but to be safe ask the pharmacist. They are well educated in this area and will tell you the truth. also, you may want to google prescription prenatal vitamins and print out a list of ingredients and take it to the pharmacy and compare them. good luck. Make sure though, cuz certain vitamins are a must for you and the baby,. God designed women so that all the vitamins and minerals and everything else as fara as nourishment goes to the baby first, then, if there are any left over the mom gets what's left. So, make sure you eat well and often and stay away from junk and soda and take good care. My teeth suffered during pregnancy, I needed more calcium and magnesium, I just wasn't as smart then, haha

If you are going to use diet pills you need to make sure they are FDA approved and use them for only short periods of time they are not supposed to be used long term. It's best to just have healthy safe eating habits that you can go by for the rest of your life. Diets and pills are temporary the weight comes back. It's ok for an emergency like fitting into a wedding gown or something like that but not for a lifestyle. Many people are under Dr. supervision and should be while using diet pills.

Yes, I do think it is perfectly fine to use over the counter pills other than what the doctor prescribes. You're still taking the pills, which is better than nothing! Also, the pills the doctor prescribes are usually very very nasty to-the-taste, therefore many women opt to get the over the counter pills instead. You're as cool as a cucumber!

Over the counter prenatals are generally fine. Of course, there are some real cheapies, so check with the pharmacist to make sure you are getting the best one available. For instance, when i was pregnant, I checked them all out. There was a bottle of $6 prenatals, and the pharmacist recommended a bottle of Stuart prenatals that were $25, along with a supplement of folic acid, and he said it was everything I would need. I asked my doctor, and he said it was just fine, too.

Just be sure and ask the pharmacist at the drugstore! Good luck! :)

most of the over the counter prenatal pills have the same ingredients so there is no problem with doing so. personally i cant stomach the prenatal pills so my doctor suggested to take 2 of the flinstone chewable vitamins instead they also have the same effect. just be sure to inform your doctor if you change the pills that your taking.
good luck

OTC medications are not quality checked by the FDA, so be sure to use a 'good' name brand. Check to make sure it has enough folic acid and iron. I still think the best bet is to go with the prenatal vitamins your doctor prescribes.

Yes over the counter pre-natal vitamins are fine, unless you need to take a specific type for a specific reason like a lack of a certain vitamin or mineral etc..

Yes. Prescribed prenatals made me very sick to the stomach. My doctor told me to take the flintstones vitamins with iron instead.

yes, just stick it in a glass of water, if it takes forever to dissolve it's not that great of a pill. I know it's not exactly like the stomach acid but that's what I used to do at work.
