I am a 13 year old girl...I am thinking about starting guitar lessons, but I am worried that guys will think playing guitar is too masculine...I don't want to come a cross as masculine or boyish at all. Guys (or girls if you can help), what would you think of a teenage female guitar player? Thanks so much :)

Dudes like a woman to be confident and capable, not whiney and helpless.

I play guitar and I'm a girl...I actually have 3 guitars (2 electric ones and an acoustic) I started learning when I was about 7 (my grandpa taught me) and I'm now 21 and my fiance and I play all the time (he also has 3 guitars) so pretty much we have one room dedicated to music (All of our guitars in there and I also play piano/keyboard and sing so we have a keyboard and mic too) All of my friends thought it was awesome in school...I don't think it's masculine at all! Good luck, and just remember, it doesn't come naturally to everyone, so if you have trouble with it, don't get discouraged, just keep on practicing and you will get it :)

Playing guitar is great for either boys or girls. I'm 27 and I'm still learning. I'll be well impressed if you can learn it, it's too difficult for me! Plus, just a handy tip, it's great when you're interested in a guy that knows how to play as well. :)
Just go for it, nothing is 'boy-only' these days, there are tons of famous female guitar players who are fantastic! Good luck!

You need the look, and a band, anything other than that it's just whatever. Haven't you ever seen that episode of Boy meets World? Where Shawn and Cory carry around instrument because chicks dig em. Oh, and don't just go up to someone and say you play the guitar, it comes off douchey.

Jewel plays guitar, even Dollie Parton plays guitar. Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart both play and there are more all girl bands than I can think of. Rock on.

Girl guitar players rock! Only stupid dudes who listen to rap or some other crap will think it is too masculine. Learn some Zeppelin riffs and you will be fighting off the cool guys with a stick.

There is NOTHING muscular about playing the guitar. Actually when playing somewhere (e.g. campouts) it is mostly girls playing. I have played since I was in 3rd grade and every guy liked that I played. Have fun.
PS. Guitar is one of the best because you can take ur instrument anywhere without it being a big hassle

Believe me! People tend to think that musicians are awesome, no matter what instrument they play! And I've known LOTS of female guitar players.

Omg! I'm 13 years old to and play the guitar! Who cares what they think?!? At this age they barely have a brain to think with anyways! If your worried what they think then you don't want to play the guitar all that bad.
