pull out cupholder ,there are 2 screws behind it and theen remove the trim around shifter.Pull out ashtray or Compartment where ashtray goes and there are 2 screws going up into the radio area.Once those 4 screws are out you can pull trim out from around radio and disconnect wiring for cigarette lighter outlet.Then you can see there are either 4 or 6 screws on the side of the radio,remove them and radio will come out.Disconnect wiring from back of radio and depending on wich radio oyu have there will be 4 or 8 screws holding bracketts to radio.

There are four holes - one in each corner of the face - you use two loop tools that plug into the four hole and release the catches.
You can get the loops (they look like bent coat hanger wire with catches cut into the ends) at the Subaru dealer.
