With the many issues being debated by Rep and Dem and Ind, it's hard to take a stand and agree with one party about every single issue. I have some Dem views and some Rep views, but I vote for the person who sees my view of one major issue. The others are more minor to me.
What major views keep you Democrat or Republican or neither? abortion, the environment, gun control, health care, etc...

while you are speaking one thing...voting on individual issues...I am hearing another issue...money. Take from the rich and give to the poor. yadayada. I vote on an issue as well. I almost always vote republican, because I could never vote for someone who can endorse killing innocent life. Yes, abortion is my key issue. I'm really not worried about the money thing and poor me. If I want to be rich and well, I do, then it's up to me and no one else to get the job done. If you are really that concerned about money, those of you who are, then quit whining and do something about it. You have just as much right in this country as anyone else to make your fortune. Study, learn from people who came out of poverty to be self made millionaires. It's doesn't need to be a question of eating verses saving. That's just making excuses. And no, I'm no where near rich. As a matter of fact, my husband just got layed off. Fortunately, we are making our own way and not counting on any government agency to do it for us with hand outs. We are a democracy here. If someone earns it, then it should be theirs to keep. Distribution of wealty my eye. If you were the one with the wealth I have a feeling you would not be agreeing with your own words.
Everyone votes on some type of issue. Whether it be money, abortion, or safety.

Depends what it is I think the country is most in need of at a given time. The most important thing at this time, of course, was to get the checks and balances back in place.
You sound like an intelligent person who thinks for yourself, and not along party lines. This is good! You are absolutely right not to get side-tracked by the wedge issues, such as abortion and gay marriage, for instance.
The government's first responsibilities have to do with keeping us safe as a nation, and making sure every citizen has a reasonable chance to be healthy and well educated. Thirdly, I support a more reasonable distribution of the wealth. Don't tax hard working middle Americans to death, while the wealthy get all the tax breaks. I support finding alternate sources of fuel, and I support conservation of the environment.
So, I guess I am Democrat on most of the big issues, because I get upset with people want to keep the status quo at any cost. (Examples: big oil doesn't want alternate fuel sources, because they sell oil, or pharmaceutical companies don't want cures found to diseases when they can sell their pills to treat the symptoms). The rich getting richer while everyone else struggles to exist- sorry, against it.
Moral issues are important- but it is important that as a voting people, we understand that politicians will use these issues to divide the American people, and get us stuck on that so we won't see the big picture, and perhaps won't see that the big problems to the really important issues aren't getting solved.
I think we have learned a lot during the last few years. I think many (maybe most) of us have been wondering where the people are who represent our best interests. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I was a Democrat but recently changed to Independent because I don't think amnesty for illegal immigrants is in the best interest for the majority of Americans.

The Republicans brag that the economy is wonderful. Stocks are at an all time high and that is true enough. The problem with that logic is that while the economy "looks good", who is it helping? Certainly not the middle-class or the poor folks. Even the majority of middle-class persons can't afford to invest in stocks. They're barely holding their heads above water. The ones who are making money are the corporations & big business, including those oil tycoons. Basically anyone who is making $100,000 or more. They are the ones who get the huge tax shelters & tax deductions. I believe they call it "trickle down economics". The only decent thing the Republicans did do was to pass a prescription drug plan for Medicare. The problem was, before it was even implemented, drug companies raised prescription prices & many of those drugs were no longer affordable to persons on a limited income. Once again, it helped big business. And then they even put a cap on it. The same thing is planned for Social Security Reform. Take it away from the Govt & give it to the banks & financial institutions who will oversee it for a hefty fee. How many young families or adults will "save for retirement"?
When it comes to food or savings, which do you think will win? It's shameful.

Republicans cater to big business, the Democrats cater to the rest. Pretty cut & dried, don't ya think? If only there was something in-between.

I agree with Greg and military wife and also cause I LOVE my FREEDOM and AMERICA and democrats are only out to make money for themselves and forget all the promises they made once they come to office. I have family members that are in military and I know that its a dangerous war but like me they also are fighting for your freedom and mine. AND puting SANCTION on these people does not work because these are poeple that are for themselves. Ask urself why do u think that when democrats take office we are always on a deficet and unfortunately by the time republicans come into office and starts cleaning up, then its time to vote and of course when democrats win again they take all the credit. Since Bush has been in office I've seen people buying new homes re newing rebuilding their homes buying new cars. I know cause In 1 year I bought 4 brand new cars and I was finally able to get my own home. When democrats were in office it was very hard only the rich were able to do all that. As far as for the Clintons they are power hungry. I think 8 years of the Clintons is more than enough, we don"t need another 8 years.

i imagine the region is how important money has develop into in politics. money is so important that we do no longer have elections any better, we've -auctions-. The candidate who will boost the most money wins about 95% of the time. President Nixon spent $25 million to get elected. Obama spent $six hundred million! in actuality the 2008 election lasted 2 entire years, forcing each and every of the applicants to advance and spend basically that much better money. And all of us understand both activities get their money from a similar sources. so that you won't be able to extremely assume their agendas to be all that a lot diverse. you've a call between one company-subsidized party and yet another company-subsidized party. traditionally the Republicans are better in charge for this, because traditionally they were continuously the party with better money, so that they worked to modify the regulations to apply this income, to make money better important. lower than leaders like Newt Gingrich and Tom delay, members were extremely 'shaken down' for money, the party informed their better buyers how a lot they ought to make contributions. this may be considered extortion if it develop into absolutely everyone notwithstanding the GOP. in addition they informed their members that they couldn't make contributions to the Democrats also, to hide their bets. This had plenty to do, finally, with them dropping a number of their sponsors. as we talk that's the Democrats get better contributions. The party out of skill is continuously operating for marketing campaign finance reform. For years it develop into the Democrats, now that's the Republicans. I trust you, both activities have failed us. both activities are virtually irretrievably corrupt. they can't bypass -any- bill that do not have the 'incidental' results of enriching their sponsors, that's most efficient inexorably to a 'corporocracy' in u.s.. both activities have damaged the delivers they made to their bases, because their bases are people and folk now no longer count number, in hardship-free words money concerns.

I am a registered Republican, but I vote the candidate not the party. My main concern with most democrats is that they are such absolute hypocrites. The Democrats star, Bill Clinton, was the most phony blatantly dishonest president we have ever had. He was impeached by the House but it wasn't ratified and he committed a felony. Now the Democrats think he is so wonderful. At least Richard Nixon had the character to resign. Bill Clinton is typical of the dishonesty of most Democrats.

Hello,

I used to vote for the party, but now, I am voting to remove Abortion from the constitution and protecting billions of human life which do not have a voice.

I vote to protect marriage between a Man and a Woman who procreate to make babies to grow up, go to college, get a job to continue keeping our economy strong and maybe, just maybe the nation's social security will grow. You see, Babies+School+Work=Social Security and a stronger nation.

Hope this helps you........................... :-)

Actually I vote for the side that will stick with the constution the closest. Upholding the rights of citizens. There are things that just flabergast me when it comes to the decisions the government makes.

I vote republican mostly, because even though they stink, they aren't pansys (at least most aren't) who just want to throw flowery words at the terrorists who want to kill us. At least the republicans DO something besides talk everyone to death. But I dont always vote republican. Some dems are better.
