I want to get a tropical fish aquarium set up, but I don't know how...or what fish to choose? I want pretty ones! No Betta fish, tetra, or mollie suggestions please!

What kind of fish you have depends on what size tank you have. For a 10-20 gallon, you can get a dwarf gourami or a paradise fish as your centerpiece fish. You can get some rasboras or danios if you really don't want tetras, but there are lots of really pretty tetras that could go with a gourami. You can also add white cloud mountain minnows. If you have a 20+ gallon tank you can get the bigger types of gouramis (not kissing gouramis, they get huge) or some tiger barbs. You can get cories for the bottom level. Don't get an oscar unless you're getting a 90 gallon tank, they get gigantic very quickly.

Here's a dwarf gourami: http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_lalia.php

As far as set up, you need a tank with a hood, a filter (go for more filtration rather than less), a heater, an airstone with a pump, and dechlorinator. You will need to cycle your tank before adding fish to prevent new tank syndrome. Stability or BioSpira will speed up the process.

Tanks are really pretty once you get past all the stuff you need to set them up.
You need a tank, water heater, filter, air pump, and gravel.
I have Oscars, but they are very territorial and are not "happy" fish.
Gorami's are my favorite, they come in many different colors and are very peaceful.
Also Angel Fish are pretty

Guppies are extremely beautiful, they are hardy fish. Also endler's livebearers, and lyretail swordtails are beautiful, hardy fish that are easy to care for.

Checkout www.liveaquaria.com for more tropicals fish that are very nice, and odd to look at.

Piranhas, buy two, watch them grow up, and eventually they'll fight each other.
