Your are asking two quite different questions, but yes, to both. To heal someone like that I have to be in a particular mindset.
You might want to look up Doreen Virtue, if you are looking for learning the healing touch. I didn't learn, I just do it sometimes, and have little control over it. Doreen's website is something like angeltherapy, and although I don't agree with many of her followers, the basic instructions are available from Doreen and her organization.
Edit: Reiki is a different technique from Doreen's original practice, but generally doesn't involve actually touching, rather putting hands near the affected points or chakras.
Edit2: Commodore and Yeti might want to get a cat, or maybe a dog, to displace the negative energy into. It doesn't affect cats, and dogs shake off the negative energies.
