If the republicans would have won (7 Nov 06), I could safely say his would be a failed presidency; based on a failed neo-con ideology of preemption war, total environmental degradation, and that both fuel the economy (or at least make rich white guys richer). The next two years could prove positive for him if he works with the moderates. The only problem is, he has put us so far in debt, there is no monies left to work on any sustainable economic paradigms.

They will try to fluff it up some way or other, but I think getting rid of Rumsfeld was the first step in the right direction, even though it was forced. Now that Bush has the help of a Democratic Congress, he may not come out as bad as he would have if things had been allowed to stay on the same stagnant course. We shall find out in the next 2 years.

Worst president ever...
No bull! A survey of American Historians was conducted and two thirds of them said that no president has ever accomplished so little and done more damage than Bush. If he's not judged as the worst president ever, he'll certainly be in the bottom.

5 years fromk now or 300 years from now. After the U.S. Empire falls (and they all do) I wonder if many will point to his presidency as the point where the country got so partisan that it imploded. Right now I think he will be remembered for his war on terror. Whatever happens good or bad he is married to Iraq's future. If the next president is a good one the legacy won't amount to much, but the next president fails and he is the ultimate target for his own failings and there's. His mistakes make him too easy not to use.

Bush has generally been regarded in many surveys as one of the worst presidents. While he still has his supporters, time will likely not be on his side. It may well be how he handles himself in the next two years; it will be unlikely for him to wind up being a great president, but he could pull himself up to mediocre.
In some ways, it is similar to Reagan. Some people called him one of the greatest of all times (even wanting his likeness cast into Mount Rushmore), but many people have also called him one of the worst (he didn't bring down the Soviet Union, by the way, it was a product of Gorbachev's glasnost; I also remember the Johnny Carson jokes about Reagan and "ketchup is a vegetable"). Due to the passage of time, many of these same surveys also have portrayed him as mediocre.

No doubt it will be his war on terror. Though the democrats would lead you to believe that it is all negative. I have to say at least Bush was busy fighting a good cause. He may not have succeeded as we had hoped but at least he tried. People always remember the negative never the positive. People weren't booing him when we starting shock and awe, when we caught Saddam. The only thing I remember about Clinton's term is his blow j** in the oval office and I am sure he accomplished more than that. I would hope the historians would broaden their memory and remember the good and the bad. For those of you that say there was no good I don't see you passing on the tax cuts that Bush put in place.

Depending on what happens in the future, his legacy will either be really good or really bad. If the future plays out well for him, he'll be revered as the second Ronald Reagan that fought for his beliefs and never backed off from anyone. However, if the future plays out badly for him, then he'll have everything to blame for. Based upon the current outlook, his legacy does not look like a good one. Without a doubt, he is one of the most contraversial Presidents in United States history.

We have to wait two more years to judge his legacy. If his Iraq War strategy fails, his legacy will be a disaster. But one thing for sure is that he will be remembered as a great president for his brilliant leadership in the 9/11 aftermath. Although I am not a big fan of George W.Bush, I give him much credit for pursuing the terrorists relentlessly and renewing the Patriot Act to prevent further terrorist attacks.
