Her Dr. wants her to do another one in February. Im somewhat of a hypochondriac and very worried its something horrible. Should I be worried? Has anyone here had atypicals results come back? I just dont want it to be cancer.

dont worry. it'll be ok. its common getting these results screwed up. they're never reliable. trust me. shell get another on done and it'll be normal. besides if there was a probability of her having cancer, do u really think they would wait ALL the way until February to just test her again?? Everything's ok. Don't worry.

Its not necessarily horrible. My mom's is atypical every year and nothing is wrong with her at all.
It could be many things, from an infection to an imbalance, or it could be something worse.
SOmetimes it is just a fluke with the test and the 2nd one comes back clear.
DOnt worry until you get the results of the 2nd on, because there is no use in worrying.

I was searching for a question or an answer like this. I just got a call from my GYN and they said almost the same thing. They said that my test results were normal, but there weren't enough cervical cells to test further, and they want me to come back in 6months. I feel better reading these answers. PS...I am a major hypochondriac too!

With HPV becoming more and more common they probably just want to be sure if the first test came out okay then the second should as well.

My wife had an etopic pregnancy recently so she gets checked a bit more cautiously.

Try not to freak out too much. Abnormal paps are not uncommon. Often times the next one will come out normal. I had an abnormal one once, twelve years ago. Every one since then has been totally normal.

I did...wasn't cancer. If they thought it was cancer they would be more likely ordering a biopsy not another pap smear.
