it isnt weaseling but common sense. As when the disciples where hungry on the Sabbath day and they plucked corn and ate I think it was corn. And Jesus did not condemn for eating when they were hungry, It is not as if they went out to the store and bought it. Essentially services are important what if you needed an ambulance on the Sabbath day. and Jesus did mention that if your ox felll into a pit, would you leave it there all day or have compassion on the ox and try and pull it out. So being merciful on the Sabbath day is not against the will of God. to satisfy your own pleasures that is a different thing.
