I want to understand why Fidel Castro handed power over to his brother. Is the Castro family the only on capable of ruling the country or is it a monarchial system of government?

Cuba is a dictatorship. Fidel Castro is not a king, he is a dictator.

Fidel Castro over took the Cuban government along with a group of other people that he formed. OVER TOOK THE GOVERNMENT imagine that. So Fidel Castro is a very powerful man and most likely won't have any one that isn't blood related rule the country. You should really go to the library and find books written about Cuba and Fidel Castro/ they are quite interesting.

Cuba is a communist dictatorship, the only ones capable of ruling Cuba is whom ever the dictator decides in this case Fidel Castro. He is not a King or a Monach of any kind just a dictator.

Cuba is considered a "communist state" and is essentially a dictatorship, not a monarchy. Since Castro is a dictator, he can hand power to anyone he wants, whether that's his brother or Pee Wee Herman.

It is a communist style dictatorship. Castro is getting old and sick, so he handed power to his brother to ensure that his plans to control the people are held in place by someone he trusts.
