Why would they not converse?
Has anyone else battled with this and what good approach was helpful? I do not want to cause anger or a shutting down...nor be spiteful or rude. I wish for healing and understanding. I have tried to be patient.

if you and healing and understanding the individual has to be ready to share and tell the truth -- no matter what the subject someone opening up and telling you something that is obviously painful should be left up to that person being ready -- your wish for healing and understanding is going to take real "patience" if you don't want to be rude -- you can't make someone tell you something just because you want to hear it

Whatever needs to be addressed, just tell the person with love. Pray about it the night before and ask the Holy Spirit to go ahead of you and speak to the person's heart.

I'd tell you the real whole truth and not skirt the issues if I knew what it was you wanted the truth about.

Just tell the person that you want the truth. If they don't want to tell you then maybe you can't trust the person. Sometimes you need to be strict to get the information that you need to get,
