In the past, marriage was primarily just such a business deal. Among wealthy families, it solidified political alliances or expanded land holdings. For poorer people, it was a means of managing the farm or operating a household. Today, people have become economically self-sufficient as individuals, no longer requiring a spouse for survival.

This is under the assumption that women are still expected to marry for money, due to economy, culture and society. Most women are not tied down by these setbacks anymore... so I assume that they marry for love.

Hmmm? Beacuse she's in love with someone and wants to spend the rest of her life with him?

Do you think women only get married for money?

My "well-salaried" wife married me and left her "well-salary" job to take care of our baby.

That question implies that a woman who doesn't make a good salary should marry.

Frankly, money - or the lack thereof - should have nothing to do with it.

It does not matter how much money someone makes. It matters that they find their life partner and they are willing to share their life with another person.

To have and to hold and to cherish.

HELL, if you have $$$$ you are free to marry for love (unless you think the man HAS to make more than you.)
