No, but I have accepted an award on someone else's behind. I picked up the Girliest Tushyman Trophy at the Richard Simmons School for the Buttockly Challenged.

In the eighth grade I had to accept a Sunday School perfect attendance award for my brother. He snuck home for a few minutes and didn't know they were giving out the awards. I think he was taking a "bopping the baloney" break.

Yes. I accepted the Best Actor Academy Award for Marlon Brando in 1973. He was incapacitated from a severe bout of gout. In the early seventies he ate nothing but bacon fried in butter. He washed it down with a cheap muscatel and had the most horrific belches. It was a relief to get out of his apartment for a few hours, let me tell you.

Oh, yes. I have reached out in friendship to the woman who always wins my age group in running. She seems like a loner. Like me. It has taken time, but it has paid off. Twice now, she has asked me to pick up her award after her race as she is a coach and has to leave to do her job. It is kind of hard to do, to bring home her trophy, when I have won nothing, but it is good for me. Her friendship means more and I have to remember I have that.

Yes, and although it was an honor, I would much have preferred to have the recipient present to accept for himself. He was sorely missed at the ceremony.
