I just recently found out I'm pregnant (only 5 weeks along). When should I inform my boss?

I would wait until you are 13 weeks before telling anyone other than family. When you tell him, you should have a plan already mapped up on your continued work schedule, if you plan on working after the baby is born. He/she will most likely have a bunch of questions for you, so you should be prepaired.

Good luck & congrats!

I told my boss right after I found out because I have had 2 miscarriages in the past and had to be seen by my doctor every 2 weeks in the first trimester. Plus with all the morning sickness I was having they were sure to figure it out. Now I am 30 weeks and my co-workers are enjoying this time just as much as me. Not to mention that my husband has been working there longer then me so it makes it fun! Tell him when ever you feel ready. Congrats!!!

You shouldn't tell him or too many other people until your at least 3 months along. So many things can happen during the first 3 months and if you loose the baby you don't want to go through having to tell everybody or having people come and ask you how the pregnancy is going or something like that when you are not pregnant. I makes it really hard.

I'd tell him when it starts effecting your work. If you are having bad morning sickness or mood swings or have to take time off from work for appointments, let him know soon. Plus your stomach might start to give it away in a few more weeks. Also, if you are going to be taking quite a bit of time off, it's curtious to give them as much notice as possible to find a replacement for when the time comes.

Now of course this all depends on your job, position, and boss.

You should tell your boss when you are about 3 months along, you have less chances of a miscarriage then. I know how nerve racking it is to tell your boss so I wish you good luck!!

it depends on where you work really.i said in work on the day i found out i was pregnant.the reason being ive had 3 miscarriages bleeding without any warning and i mean pouring everywhere.this way the girls will know if & when i need help.theyve been very supportive of me not letting me lift and taking the easy option to do things.so i guess its a personal choice but i do believe 12 weeks is about average but i need support from day one--all the best anyway jen

Unless its a physically demanding job, I would wait till after your 12th week, when you chances of miscarriage have dropped 15%. And then be sure to tell your boss before telling anyone else at work.

It depends on you and yourr work environment, but I don't see why you can't tell them right away?

I'm a Veterinary Nurse, and work around inhalant chemicals, radiology, and chemotherapy drugs. I let my supervisors know that I am TTC so that I don't get in trouble to not being able to do X-Rays, help administer chemo drugs, and trying to stay out of the room when an animal is under inhalant anesthesia.
