This is an article on Glue Removal that does indeed advise using an ice cube and then treating with a little cooking oil
http://housekeeping.about.com/od/stainremoval/a/gluestains.htm
but it would be helpful to know the type of glue. Waterbased glues can be dissolved with more water while others require a solvent. Aftercare to your leather with polish should bring up the shine afterwards.

Nail varnish remover may do it as that does shift glue from almost anything try rubbing a small amount on cotton wool where no one can see first to make sure it does not stain the leather.

Hello Clare
Use a hair dryer to heat the glue and use the back end of a knife to scrap it off then use a warm cloth to wipe of any left.
Had to do this a few years ago, Children tut tut!
Glad to help you dear, theluckyhedgehog. Can I have 10 points please. xx
