It will depend a lot on who wins the next presidency. If a democrat wins, more than likely a lot of bills will be passed but if a republican wins in 2008, there will probably be a lot of stalemate and a lot of the use of line item veto or just veto power.
Personally I hope that foreign affairs will take a positive turn. With all of the turmoil in the middle east I hope the next president will be strong in foreign affairs and help build confidence back in the US, our allies and the UN.
The economy I think has been terrible with this last presidency but I do feel it cannot all be blamed on the president or the republicans due to the fall of big corporations such as Enron, the stock market crashing, and 9/11. I think it is very sad when college graduates are not able to find employment upon graduating. My husband and I both graduated within a year of each other and I luckily found a job, but my husband had to wait a year before he found his first professional job because the job market crashed. I laughed every time the president said the economy was good and jobs are up. If it is so good, then where are all these jobs? oh...in retail...where we do not qualify because we are over-educated....
I feel if credit cards were not used in the US, we would be in a depression. In my hometown, bankruptcy and foreclosures are up 50%.
Something needs to be done regardless if it is a democrat or republican president or democrat or republican controlled congress. I think a lot of people, especially young families are looking for a positive change.

Taxes? - Once the subsidies to big oil and pharmaceutical companies, (just to name the top two), are stopped, more relief should be available to send to the states for education, roads, and health care.
Economy - Raising the minimum wage will put more shoppers into every kind of store. It will also allow more citizens to get credit to buy large ticket durable items.
Schools - See taxes.
Foreign Affairs - The election was all about Americans demanding change in how we have become a country of war first, diplomacy later. Our military is stretched too thin, and we have no credible diplomats. We must return to being a nation that values the use of force as a last resort, not a first strike.

Hopefully they help with education. That's very important for low and middle class America. As far as taxes, you can be pretty sure they will increase the taxes for the weathy so they can pay their fair share. Also the gravy train for cooperate America.
In the last few years, millions have been stolen from money headed to Iraq to help in aid but was stolen by the people in charge. Pulling the purse strings is paramount.
That also goes for fire arms stolen in Iraq. Millions of dollars worth were stolen. Like what Ollie North did when selling arms to the contras.

It's tough, because even though Republican ideals are superior, they weren't being practiced in Washington. Voting Democrats in allows for leadership change in the Republican party.
Since Democrats will only screw things up, your best bet is to hope for meaningful change within the Republican party, and that they come back with a majority in '08.

hmm... let's see... who was in control of congress in the 80s during what Republicans call the most prosperous time in America?... democrats... weird?
and in the 90s... democrats were in control of congress early, and Clinton was president (so they had some power the entire time)... and massive economic growth then too...
wow... those democats sure are bad for the economy... and in fact, if you compare the numbers of growth in the 80s or 90s to the growth under bush and total Republican control... it's a pretty sad comparison for the Republicans...

specific. i think of the Liberal media has finally given him some exposure through fact they're turning out to be suspect of Obama's reckless spending. Rush often in basic terms gets radio exposure. Radio has a plenty smaller objective marketplace than does television. television exposure will provide him get entry to to a plenty wider objective marketplace.
