We have funds to send money to nations all over the world, and money for all kinds of things here, but we ignore the people who put their lives on the line to preserve our nation. We subsiize college students, unwed mothers, various charities, school programs, child care, and any pork program our leaders can dream up, but for our vets, we have the President lay a wreath, and forget them until the next year.

We would also have to cut aide to Israel from 4 Billion to like 2 Billion. That would not be fair.
Then Israel would start nagging on the US more and get us involved in more use less wars where we would spend Trillions of Dollars

I am a vet of Desert Storm and when I enlisted I was told exactly what my benefits were and what other obligations the government had if I received an Honorable discharge, wounded in war.
I feel that the US government by and large has kept it's promise to me. I kept mine by serving in a war and getting my honorable discharge. Thus they and the American public owe me nothing further.
I hate the term "Veteran's Day." I feel it should have been kept as "Armistice Day" in honor of those that fought and died in the Great War.

In reality many politicians don't give a stuff about veterans and their sacrifices...they are too busy concerned with making more war...

It's a good idea though....I'm sure that if the troops were home you'd have a few billion dollars spare immediately, more than enough to afford a 'preservation check' each year.

Look pal, we, the american soldier has but one job. Walk in a straight line and die like a soldier. The government uses soldiers like pawns on a chess board. Once the pawn is gone, its gone. Don't fuss about it. Its merely part of the strategic game
