Are you referring to the herb kava kava? If so, that will not harm your baby in any way. One kava pill will not hurt anything. Do not worry about that.
Symptoms? Many women at that point don't feel pregnancy symptoms yet at all. Some are nauseous (morning sickness). Some have cramps, maybe some spotting. I personally had headaches at that point. There are lots of possibilities for the symptoms. Just take it easy.
If you have more specific questions call Planned Parenthood. They will not pressure you to get an abortion (if you haven't decided anything yet, they can make an appointment with a counselor, though). They can help set up prenatal care (which your baby needs!), answer questions about whether it's safe to take a certain kind of medicine or supplement, and all sorts of other things. Their number is 1-800-230-7526.
Just take good care of yourself and you will have nothing to worry about.

I think by taking one kava pill, you should be okay. However, I wouldn't keep doing it. Hopefully your parents know about your condition and are seeing to it that you're getting prenatal care. If not, it is imperative that you do see a doctor (and your parents will figure it out sooner or later). Okay, so I also have depression and was on medication for it. My doctor suggested I stop taking the medication but that we would monitor my depressive symptoms and take it a day at a time. You were correct, it is very important for you to take care of yourself. You are not being selfish in any way by caring for your own health. It's just also important to take care of the baby's health as well. Also remember that while pregnant your hormones are in a constant state of flux. This will also affect your mood, so just realize that whatever your feelign is perfectly normal. It is super-important to see your doctor though. Good luck!

Hi,
All sorts of things can affect tiny embryoes, the most important stage is the first 12 weeks, so try from now on the avoid all drugs where you can. But definitely don't be angry with yourself, it's really hard and you just do the best you can. My mum did some drugs when she was pregnant with me, before she found out she was, and I turned out fine (I hope!)
Your baby is probably perfectly fine, and you just have to have faith.
You are a good mum, because you are worried about it and you're trying to look after yourself and your little baby. Don't get hung up about it, it's in the past. The only thing you have control over is what you are doing now. Trust your baby's fine, and enjoy the feeling of nurturing the tiny life.
As for symptoms at this stage, there's not a lot happening, but you might notice some slight changes in your breasts - maybe you can see more blue veins through the skin, and you might start to feel a bit nauseous in the morning or if you get too hungry. I could feel my pulse beating near my womb if I closed my eyes, and it was nice to think of how my body was looking after my tiny baby. (He's one year old now!). Most likely you'll just feel normal for a few more weeks :-)
Enjoy it, look after yourself, and make sure you spend lots of time with good friends :-) Friends and good family are the best tonic for sadness.

Hi. You must be feeling pretty scared right now, but you have done the right thing by seeking answers to your questions. Please take the advice of other's who have suggested you see a doctor as soon as possible. The fact that you are concerned for your baby's welfare shows a sense of responsibility, so be please take care of yourself and the new life growing inside you.
I also found myself pregnant at a time in my life when I was not prepared to be a parent. The symptoms I felt were incredibly sore breasts and pain in my abdomen. You could describe the pain as 1,000 times worse than PMS.
Unfortunately, I miscarried the baby going into my second trimester. Although it was not a good time for me to have a baby, the sadness and guilt I felt was overwhelming.
It is now 30 years later and my husband and I have a beautiful 12 year old boy. We adopted our son at 5 days old, from a young girl who turned 16 years old, days after giving birth to him.
I'm telling you this, because there are so many ways this little baby can be a blessing to you or to a couple who long for children and are not able. You have some very important and difficult decisions to make about your future and your baby's future. Don't rush into any decision you may regret later. Take good care of yourself, OK? I'll keep you in my prayers.

I had untreated depression before I was pregnant and while pregnant and for 6 months post partum I did not have any depression. I had the weepy feelings that pregnant women often get, but it is not the same.
From what I gather there is no information on using Kava during pregnancy. No evidence it is safe, but none that it does harm either. Please, do not do it again. I am sure, however your baby is fine. Do consult a doctor/pharmacist/midwife/natropath before taking medication during pregnancy.
Do try to seek out counselling and if you need them anti-depressants. But it sounds like mainly what you need are better stress relief/coping strategies.
I'm not sure what symptoms you mean?
If you want to e-mail/messenger me. Feel free.
Take care.

don't take anything unless a doctor says to take it. you should worry now about everything you eat, but i don't know what kava is. is is a caffeine pill? read the back of the bottle or look up "kava side effects and warnings". it will tell you.
you symptoms should start in about 2 months with morning sickness. make sure for now on you read the back panel warnings before you take anything, even aspirin.

Anything CAN hurt a fetus. I am wondering how you know you are 3 weeks and 6 days pregnant. You must have had an ultrasound done to be this specific which means you have a Dr. You need to discuss these issues with them so that you don't harm yourself or your baby.

look you really need to talk to you doctor... but yes everything you do to your body from the second of conception (and even before) will effect the baby... Especially when its so little and in such a fragil state... I am not sure about the specific pills you stated, but i know that right now is a crucial time in your baby's development (unfortuneately... the next 9 months are also crucial)

I agree, go talk to a real doctor (go to a clinic or the doctor's office) and get his advice. My opinion is that anything could affect the baby at any point in the pregnancy, so don't take anything while you're pregnant that you're not sure is ok.
good luck and God bless you.
