And to say no, would mean your criticism of the democratic government is premature. Definitely premature, because the democratic Congress has not even convened yet. And not to mention, republicans nationwide literally prove they have no idea what the agenda of the democrats is.
My advice is for everyone to be fair and patient, and to not jump to conclusions about what democrats will do.

The only way for the country to go from where we are now is up. The Republicans have proven that they are out of touch with the American public and can not effectively run the country. So now maybe America will have a fighting chance to improve.

I wouldn't say the Democrats won. I'd say that the Republicans lost because of Iraq. I think that, the Democrats will pull their usual crap and raise taxes and all, then 2008 will roll around and America will kick the Democrats to the curb again.

America wins each time we have an election that is not marked by violence, forced voting, or one-party ballots.

We forget just how rare that is in the world even today.

And, no, I don't *like* that the Dems won - just for the record.

Every time an election is held in the US, no matter who wins, America has won. We exercise our privilege in casting our vote as we please and by doing so indicate to those we elect or do not elect our approval or displeasure with the way the country is going.

They should take that as a mandate for their actions.

Judging from the news coming out today...I'd say our enemies have won...if not the war than at least the battle. It's not like the people who are coming into power don't have a history of votes, statements and alliances that basically let us know in which direction they will take us.

it was a very large turnout compared to other years...America won because a party (could be one or the other) did not have enough the power to control more than a few terms in a row...it must swing back and forth to represent a real democracy...the people saw that it was leaning too far to the right and they corrected it.

Very good advice Steve.

I think the situation was more dangerous before with no checks and balances in place.
