Believe it or not, some babies are cuddlers and some are not. As long as you have given her some personal time, fed and changed her, she should be able to fall asleep on her own.

*Some* babies need some alone time.
I was trying to do the whole AP thing, and then one day my baby cried and cried and nothing would make him happy. A friend told me to but him in his crib in a darkened room. I did and 10 seconds later he was happy.
He played for about 15 min and then fell asleep. Sometimes they can get overstimulated and just want peace and quiet.
Some, very few babies, actually do not like being held very much because they find it confining. They can be very very hard to breastfeed.
We are all different, so are babies.
Whatever works for you, work. Go with it! (So no it isn't because you smell or are a bad parent or anything.)

It's just the way that she is. And be happy that she can go to sleep on her own. That is good. It took me 3 kids to get one that would do that. The other 2 wouldn't hardly go to sleep at all. You can have plenty of cuddling time during the day or a good time is just before it gets time for her to go to sleep. cuddle her and read her a book and then go lay her down so she can go to sleep on her own like she likes but you still get to cuddle and get close to her before.

It's actually good she doesn't want to be held to fall asleep because that just makes it harder as they get older. My son had to be held until he was over a year old because that's why his aunt did when she watched him. If she won't let you cuddle her, don't take it as she doesn't love you, just sit in the room with her and talk to her until she falls asleep. She'll let you do all the cuddling you want when she's awake, don't worry.

I doubt it's something you are doing...babies do need alone time and doctors will recommend this to you. If your baby realizes that you come at every whimper, or that in order to be happy she needs you around then she will never be able to handle being in a room by herself. She'll cry and cry for your attention because you always in the past ran when she needed you or thought she needed you....trust me it will be harder to break when she's older. Appreciate that you have an independant child, cause trust me it could change on a dime at any moment.

I HEAR YOU, it could get very frustrating...... MINE DOES THE SAME THING. He doesn't like to cuddle before he sleeps or naps, and sometimes, while he's in the same room with his dad and myself, he starts crying, and once we put him in his room, he's all smiles and is just happy to be on his own, so i guess some babies need their time alone.
Just be grateful it isn't the other way around, and she needs to be held all the time.
Good luck

If you cuddle with her right before her nap she might be too tired and thus irritable and just want to sleep. Try cuddling after nap time.

yeah, sometimes babies just don't want to be held. my little bean likes his cuddle time, but he also likes lying on the floor playing with his "gym" toys or lying in his crib watching his mobile.
your baby will tell you what she needs, so go with it!
also, be glad that she goes to sleep on her own. many parents are VERY jealous of you right now;)
take care.

Some kids are just like that; my son was! Holding him actually kept him awake, and he would squirm and whine until I put him down. She probably wants to be left quiet so she can rest more easily. Just means your little girl has an independent streak. That's a good thing!
